Focus Group and Band Members Research Conclusion

We asked 9 people 8 questions about music and music videos

•  1st Question; 8 out of the 9 people asked did watch music videos.

           - This shows that not all people watch music videos, some people dont have an interest in the videos

              just the actual music.

           - Others may want to see a video or even need a video to listen to and like the song.

     

• 2nd Question; What genre of music they like to listen? 

           - This helps us with further research on the type of music video we will be making.

           - Just over half of the focus group listened to rock music.

           - A few just listened to pop or to a combination of pop, rock, r'n'b, metal and so on, this made us  

             realise that our music video and the song/band we choose should probably be of rock genre.
          - This is useful to us because our music video is going to be a rock music video. We can therefore use
             these members of our focus group to tell us what they usually like to see in that genre music video.

• 3rd + 4th Question; Their favourite band/artist and their favourite music video.

            - This will help with further research into the music videos as we can look at the focus groups

              favourite videos.

            - Analysis of other videos by those bands/artists.
            - Because we know what their favourite music videos are we can ask them why they like those
              particular videos in further research, which could be useful when deciding what to include in out
              music video.

• 5th Question; the type of video they prefer, Narritive based or Live Footage videos.

             - Helps in the planning process when we make the decision about the type of video ours will be.

             - Majority of the focus group said they prefer narritive based music videos.

             - Only 2 people said they prefered live footage videos, which tells us that if narrative based music
                videos are more popular then it would be logical to make a narrative based video, but maybe
                include some elements of live footage.

• 6th Question; Music Videos Influence.

           - 7 out of 8 said the video influenced if they liked the song or not.

           - Shows the videos are very important when it comes to whether or not our audience will like the
             song which means we'll have to plan our video very carefully if we want to represent the song
             properly.

• 7th Question; Prefered seeing the artist/ band in the videos.

.         - Everyone in the focus group said they wanted to see the band/artist in the video.
          - This means that when choosing what to include in the video we should include the band in the video,
             if that's what our audience will enjoy the most.

• 8th Question;  Lighting in the videos.

         -  Four said they prefer dark lighting.

         - Four said they prefer light lighting.

         - This gives us the opportunity to make the lighting how we decide or we may need to ask more
           people their opinion on the lighting.
