Maroon 5 - Moves Like Jagger ft. Christina Aguilera

The introduction to the music video is set out like a film, partly because of the small title on screen saying; "Los Angeles June 2011", and then "Auditions". Throughout the beginning of the music video there are very fast paced middle shots of the front of what looks like a theatre, backstage of the theatre and how things are set up, close up's of a retro microphone, the British flag and the dancers getting ready to go on stage, getting their stage make-up done.

I would say that Maroon 5 have definitely created a sort of 70's/80's theme to their music video mainly because of the clothes that they're all wearing, for example plaid dresses, aviator glasses, older looking hairstlyes, bomber jackets etc.

Around 36 seconds into the music video the camera shots start to become faster, and you catch a glimpse of Jagger waiting backstage. After that theres a couple of close up shots on his face whilst he's talking. From the start of the music video to 51:00 seconds in, the entire video is in black and white, insinuating that the whole mis-en-scene of this video is old. However, 51 seconds in there is a colourful "M" that pops up on screen, which is the first sign of colour. Infront of the "M" says "Moves Like Jagger" in neon pink writing, again, creating the whole 70's/80's theme.

This, in a way, is the song name being introduced in their video, and the way it's presented is the lights flashing until the whole title lights up. The words that are sung in the song is in sync with the dancers as the chorus is "I got them moves like Jagger". Throughout the whole music video it's of the dancers dancing.

I would say that the main camera shots throughout the video is fast paced middle shots. There's a few close up's during the duration of the video, one of Maroon 5's lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist; Adam Levine singing, and one of a young girl's face with her eyes shut, and on her eyelids are the words "Mick Jagger" in eyeliner on each one.

Around 2:16, the pace of the music video starts to speed up even more, just showing more close up's of the dancers, Mick Jaggers fans, and of Maroon 5 singing and dancing. Christina Aguilera is only introduced at 3:19, with her name coming across her screen in the same bold, pink neon writing used in the introduction. There is a close up of her face, and her obvious, large eyelashes.

The way she is dressed follows through with the whole 70's/80's theme, with the floaty hat and the retro microphone. At 3:46 there is a long shot of the whole cast dancing on stage, and we see the British flag get taken over by the American flag. The video becomes more of a party because theres more life to the stage due to the party streamers, balloons, and everyone's more crowded together.

At the very end of the music video the theme goes back to black and white, all the colour goes and the party finishes with one last close up shot of Jagger speaking. The whole 'movie' theme of the video continues throughout the video to the very end, because of the colourful "The End" ending and Mick Jagger taking a bow.
