Christina Perri - Jar of Hearts

The genre of this song is Ballad. The colours are dull, gives the sense that the video is a black and white video, however it is not, this sense is created by the lighting in the video. Theres a lot of white smoke in all of the scenes which gives the impressions that some of the places arent real, for instance most shots of the man with other girls has a block background of white smoke till about half way through the video, this makes it seem like a story of realisation where Christina Perri doesnt believe that the man isnt nice, but she starts to realise so the scenes become more realistic and less like a dream.

By the end of the video the colour is almost back to normal, its no long black and white. The setting is very urban, the buildings look dirty and old but also they are based on an urban looking street which shows that it is set in a more modern day society, however, There are old looking cars parked along the street that Christina is walking down. As shes walking down the street the 'other girls' follow her down the street dancing behind her, the number of girls following increases as the video goes on and also as the story progresses in the video because every time the man 'steals' another girls heart that girl leaves the scene with him in and joins the scene with the dancers and christina, the 'other girl' also starts dancing behind Christina. There are parts in the video that are editted in and aren't true pictures, when the man is 'stealing' the girls hearts there is a small animations like image that is in the place of the girls hearts, it shows a small conical flask with a smoke like substance contained in it, the substance is meant to represent the soul or heart and when they girl is witht he man the man extracts the substance from the girls body as if to show him taking her heart. the girl then sort of runs away from the man, but its made to look like involintery as if she has died or something. Near the end of the video each girl approachs the man and they fight but the fight is made into dance in a slight aggressive maner, each girl is pasted on and leaves the scene for the next girl to enter.  (unfinished analysis)
